"恩施自治州岩石、土壤、动植物硒富集均达到世界之最"，为世界70%以上缺硒地区的人类带来了福音。硒产品和硒矿床的开发利用前景广阔。不仅如此，蕴藏在地下的矿藏丰富，已探明储有各类矿产资源70余种，矿产地314处。铁矿10亿吨、煤矿2亿吨、硫铁矿、碳石、耐火粘土、天然气、石煤等居全省第一。磷矿14亿吨，鹤峰走马磷矿是全国四大磷矿之一。还大量储藏的白鹤玉、菊花石、墨玉等生物化石，优质大理石，生物礁等稀有资源。

　　1、1991年硒资源综合开发富硒植物蛋白系列产品、保健产品、富硒茶、硒矿泉水，富硒烟。 
　　2、特种食品资源：莼菜、薇菜、蕨菜，云豆、摩芋、葛仙米、凤姜、茗合、山药等稀有品种，斐声海内外。 
　　3、州境内的恩施市、建始县、宣恩县等地均蕴藏着丰富的硒矿泉水资源。泉水含硒量0.014-0.02myt，并含有锶、锌、钙、镁、锗等十几种有益元素。这些世界罕见的独立硒矿床，其含量最大值85PPM,名列世界之首.
